There are many wonderful assets in eastern North Carolina, and our great businesses and industries are just a few of them. Two strong examples call Greenville and Pitt County home: Pecheles Automotive Group and Custom Building Company (CBC). Pecheles Automotive Group and CBC have been partnering for over 36 years creating a greater impact for their respective businesses.  The Greenville Eastern North Carolina Alliance is thankful to have these companies as private sector investors.

Each company has a history deeply rooted in family and generational growth and development. The Pecheles Automotive Group was founded in 1965 by Joe and Elma Pecheles. The couple began their company with Joe Pecheles Volkswagen. Their son Brian Pecheles sits at the helm of Pecheles Automotive which now includes Volkswagen, Audi, and Hyundai in Greenville; Toyota and Ford in Washington; and Honda in New Bern. There has always been a priority on investing in the community and facilities. “That’s why we are investing locally and encourage people to buy local,” said Brian Pecheles.

Custom Building Company also has a history of being family grown. The company was founded in 1963 by the late C.B. (Pete) West III as Home Services Company of Greenville. Today, CBC has grown into a design-build commercial construction firm run by West’s son Pete and grandson Chris. You’ll see CBC projects underway across Pitt County and eastern North Carolina. CBC is a major part of making commerce grow in our region.

Pecheles and CBC have collaborated on numerous buildings and renovation projects with the Pecheles Automotive Group over the years. Over 25 years ago, CBC completed renovations for the existing Hyundai showroom. Now, as Pecheles continues to thrive off modernization and technology in the automotive industry, they have once again engaged CBC in a new project. Pecheles has a $7.5 million state of the art Hyundai showroom currently under construction.

This new showroom will replace the nearly 60-year-old building adjacent to it on the six-acre complex between Greenville Blvd and Evans Street in Greenville, NC. It has truly been a mutual partnership of support across the decades. When you drive by a Pecheles Automotive dealership in Greenville, Washington, or New Bern or a construction site with a CBC sign out front you’re seeing an indicator of the heartbeat of our local economy and the collaboration of many to grow the region.

The Greenville Eastern North Carolina Alliance works with our partners; Pitt County Economic Development, East Carolina University, Pitt Community College, ECU Health, and many others to help support and grow our existing businesses and industries and attract new industries. It is our goal to create opportunities that grow our tax base and create better paying jobs for our residents. The people in these jobs buy cars, houses, go out to eat, need banking and insurance institutions, childcare, and an endless list of other products and services.

Local investment, collaboration and engagement is key to our success. As we close out this year, we salute Pecheles Automotive Group and CBC along with all of our members that are invested in our mission. See the full list at: https://www.encalliance.com/about-us/investors. Support those who support good growth in our region. C.B. (Pete) West III and Joe Pecheles had a vision back in the 60’s and we are thankful this legacy continues today. Buy local and support local and you will see our community continue to grow.
