The Greenville Eastern North Carolina (ENC) Alliance is excited to announce that Maria Satira has been promoted to vice president of marketing and talent programming for the economic development organization. Satira, hired in September 2020, previously served as the director of marketing and communications.

“Maria has been with the organization since its inception. For the last five years, she has helped to establish a strong foundation for our marketing efforts and has become a trusted collaborator for our many partner organizations,” said Josh Lewis, president and CEO of the Greenville ENC Alliance. “As our economic development organization continues to evolve and grow, we are excited to have Maria lead our marketing, events, and talent programming.”

Satira manages external and internal community marketing and communications, including award-winning community promotion campaigns and media outreach initiatives that showcase the benefits of doing business in Greenville-Pitt County.

“I’m truly honored to move into this leadership role and continue serving the Greenville-Pitt County community in an impactful way,” said Satira. “Through our collaboration with local partners and public and private investors, I look forward to executing new and exciting communication strategies to fuel growth and economic prosperity in our area.”

During Satira’s tenure at the Alliance, the organization has won 25 economic development projects, attracted $1.6 billion in new capital investment, and helped to create more than 3,200 new direct jobs in Greenville-Pitt County. With the recent launch of the Alliance’s Grow in Greenville sub-brand, the organization is assisting local companies in filling open roles. Satira will oversee talent marketing efforts and events to attract new talent to the area while retaining existing talent and recent graduates from Pitt County Schools, Pitt Community College, and East Carolina University.

“Over the last several years, our organization has focused significant resources and efforts on community marketing and talent engagement,” added Lewis. “Our ability to conceptualize and launch these different initiatives was primarily driven by Maria’s creativity and passion to bring community stories to life and make Greenville and Pitt County a recognized and respected brand. The community has benefited greatly from her dedication and drive to be the best.”

Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Satira moved to Greenville in 2014 to further her career as a news anchor at WNCT-TV.

“When I moved here in my early 20s, I quickly fell in love with Greenville’s livability and affordability and knew it was a place where I could grow personally and professionally. Now, more than a decade later, it’s also the ideal community for my husband and me to raise our two young daughters and give them an incredible quality of life,” shared Satira. “I’m passionate about all Pitt County has to offer businesses, employees, and residents, and I’m excited to share these endless benefits through community promotion and unique, innovative marketing campaigns.”

Satira serves on the ECU College of Business Advisory Board for the Department of Marketing and Supply Chain Management, the International Economic Development Council's Emerging Trends Committee, and the Southern Economic Development Council's Communications Committee. Maria regularly volunteers with various nonprofits, including the Pitt County Arts Council at Emerge, where she serves as the organization’s president, and the Humane Society of Eastern Carolina. She is also actively involved in Young Professionals of Pitt County and was named the 2021 Young Professional of the Year by the Greenville-Pitt County Chamber of Commerce.
